Machine Learning Basics with R
This two day workshop aims to develop basic understanding of Machine Learning based on Classification methods, through the use of the R programming platform. It describes the different types of learning and the two main categories of their applications: Classification and Regression. With a focus on the former, it takes a close look at typical Machine Learning techniques and how they apply on datasets akin to those encountered in the real world.
Our goal is to give you the basic skills that you need to understand supervised machine learning algorithms and interpret their output, which is important for solving a range of data science problems.
Who Should Attend This Workshop?
Anyone interested in learning what is machine learning and applying supervised machine learning methods and R to solve data problems. Ideal for people interested in pursuing career in data science.
Knowledge of R programming language and familiarity with linear algebra. Basic familiarity with statistics and probability theory is recommended.
* If you don't know R then we suggest you first attend the Getting Started with R and Data Analysis one day workshop on the 4th August 2014.
You will gain some experience in working with data using Machine Learning, especially for Classification applications and cultivate your analytical skills. Coupled with the better familiarity of R that you will also gain, you'll be more equipped to tackle different datasets like a professional. Finally, you will hone your perspective and discernment, sowing the seeds for your future development as a data scientist.
