I am an MSc Data Analytics student, who is looking for a research project for the final year thesis. I have two ideas in mind, one idea is in line with the prediction of a natural disaster, another one is in line with the e-commerce sector. While both the ideas are good at their own place, which one shall I choose keeping in mind that I want to find a job in this field after the master's degree.
Also, if anyone has another idea for a research project, please let me know.
Thanks in advance!
I posted a list a potential projects a while back, you can check them out here. For more recent projects with a more theoretical, probabilistic flavor, yet solved with the help of data science techniques, you can check the following:
If you are looking for data sets, check out this resource.
In terms of the "prediction of a natural disaster", if you are going to follow that topic for your Masters' dissertation, then it might be good for you to start doing some research on Extreme Value Theory, From a Bayesian perspective, look into at predictive distributions as this could lead as a natural progression towards your PhD thesis, should you decide to go that way. Here's some good references:

"Extreme Value and Related Models with Applications in Engineering and Science", Castillo E, et al

Hope that helps a little,
