Real Time Analytics and Stream Processing

In many business scenarios it is no longer desirable to wait hours, days or weeks for the results of analytic processes. Psychologically, people expect real-time or near real-time responses from the systems they interact with. Real-time analytics is closely tied to infrastructure issues and recent move to technologies like in-memory databases is beginning to make ‘real-time’ look achievable in the business world and not just in the computer science laboratory.Handling large amounts of streaming data, ranging from structured to unstructured, numerical to micro-blogs streams of data, is challenging in a Big Data context because the data, besides its volume, is very heterogeneous and highly dynamic. It also calls for scalability and high throughput, since data collection related to a disaster area can easily occupy terabytes in binary GIS formats and data…See More

IoT and Smart Classes

As we live through the ever-changing world, education is the sphere that remains surprisingly behind the general rapid advancement. The WEF Future of Jobs Report 2018 states that technological breakthroughs are changing the global labor market, blurring the frontier between human jobs and automated machine tasks and people are still largely unprepared for them. We’re entering the new paradigm of global interconnectivity where the Internet of Things (IoT) reaches out for previously disconnected offline objects and devices.  Although education remains a background sector for IoT by and large, the classroom can benefit from IoT at all stages. How IoT Can Impact the Classroom? In another IoT For All article on IoT in education, Hayden Cohen discussed how IoT can help reform the educational system and solve the problems of the shortage of educators and textbooks. In…See More

One of the newest developing technologies is augmented reality (AR), which can be applied to many different existing technologies, such as: computers, tablets, and smartphones. AR technology can also be utilized through wearable components, for example, glasses. Throughout this paper review on AR the following aspects are discussed at length: research explored, theoretical foundations, applications in education, challenges, reactions, and implications. Several different types of AR devices and applications are discussed at length, and an in-depth analysis is done on several studies that have implemented AR technology in an educational setting. Data Scientists Role & Ethics

What data scientists do? As per my personal perception, i do break data science down into three components: (1) business intelligence, which is essentially about “taking data that the company has and getting it in front of the right people” in the form of dashboards, reports, and emails; (2) decision science, which is about “taking data and using it to help a company make a decision”; (3) machine learning, which is about “how can we take data science models and put them continuously into production.”We now know how data science works, at least in the tech industry. First, data scientists lay a solid data foundation in order to perform robust analytics. Then they use online experiments, among other methods, to achieve sustainable growth. Finally, they build machine learning pipelines and personalized data products to better understand their business and customers…See More

GKS and Data Visualization In Data Science

The Graphical Kernel System (GKS) is a document produced by the International Standards Organization (ISO) which defines a common interface to interactive computer graphics for application programs. GKS has been designed by a group of experts representing the national standards institutions of most major industrialized countries. The full standard provides functional specifications for some 200 subroutines which perform graphics input and output in a device independent way. Application programs can thus move freely between different graphics devices and different host computers. For the first time graphics programs have become genuinely portable. However, one should point out that GKS itself is not portable. Individual GKS implementations will vary substantially as they have to support different graphics devices on different computers. Moreover, GKS is a kernel…See More
