IBM i2 is Big Data

IBM, the 92nd in the Top 100 in the Fortune Global 500 list in 2018, according to the own Fortune Magazine websites, http://fortune.com/global500/ibm/, and IBM, as we know, means International Business Machines, a company that started in 1911 (https://www.webopedia.com/TERM/I/IBM.html), has come up with a piece of software that is being tagged by some experts in Information Technology as Law and Order, and that is the i2.

Some governmental agencies currently use the piece of software to describe the activities of organised crime groups (https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/most-australians-happy-with…, https://www.ibm.com/industries/government/public-safety/analysis-an…, http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redpapers/pdfs/redp5130.pdf, https://www.unodc.org/centralasia/en/news/ibm-i2-intelligence-analy…): complex networks of events, and people get to be recorded, and reported in this way.

According to a few experts in Cyber Intelligence, i2 can handle large databases, so that it is only inserting your Excel file in the system, and voilà.

In Know Thy Enemies, a paper published by the IOSR Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences, Oct 2017, we learn that the i2 has a few issues: schemas are determined by two files but it should be one, error messages that are not as clear as they could be, and so on (https://www.researchgate.net/publication/320685751_Know_Thy_Enemies).

The figure above comes from an i2 session where one of the so few default icons from i2 is being displayed, and all the lines we see represent connections of databases type (each line that appears connected to the icon would lead to the data source). To the right side, we see a table with the five values that represent the lines connecting to the icon.

The data limit would have to be at most that of the Microsoft Excel, so that the information below is relevant (1 million rows of data in 2007):
