I saw a post recently which claimed that AI can help doctors diagnose coronavirus
On the face of it - this sounds like a positive development but I wonder if it is?
As I understand it, a single Chinese start-up has got hold of 2000 Covid 19 patient X-rays and developed a solution for early detection,
This is been classed as an innovation.
But is it?
Why should only one company get access to the X rays?
Why not make the data open to ALL companies (Chinese and global) so that a solution could be found?
The better approach would be the release the data in the public domain for the benefit of all

I wish more entities would do this. The Johns Hopkins data repository for the 2019 Novel Coronavirus Visual Dashboard is operated by the Johns Hopkins University Center for Systems Science and Engineering (JHU CSSE).
As we face global challenges – AI could offer solutions, but these solutions also need global cooperation especially in terms of data and algorithms
