I need to start somewhere in my goal to become a Mad Data Scientist.  One of the first places I check was Coursera.org

For those of you who are not familiar with Coursera is a for-profit educational technology company that offers massive open online courses (MOOCs).  Coursera works with universities to make some of their courses available online, and offers courses in physics, engineering, humanities, medicine, biology, social sciences, mathematics, business, computer science, and other subjects.  Coursera positions itself as learning without limits.

Coursera.org in conjunction with John Hopkins University offer a Data Science Specialization Certification Track that is 9 Instructor lead classes.

I have started with this track and will let you know how it goes

  1. The Data Scientist’s Toolbox
  2. R Programming
  3. Getting and Cleaning Data
  4. Exploratory Data Analysis
  5. Reproducible Research
  6. Statistical Inference
  7. Regression Models
  8. Practical Machine Learning
  9. Developing Data Products

So far I have passed courses number 1 - 4 and 6 if somebody would be interesting about experience we can discuss.

And there is interesting specialization for Data Mining:

Good luck with specialization!
