Dr. Roitblat combines practical real-world knowledge of complex data with deep theoretical understanding of information retrieval and document decisioning. He is well known in the field for his ability to explain complex issues in accessible terms. He has designed and led the development software that users want to use, software that helps them get at the insights that they need from large collections of data.
Dr. Roitblat is a Co-founder of OrcaTec LLC (CA). Before starting OrcaTec, Dr. Roitblat was Chief Scientist and a co-founder of DolphinSearch, as well as an award-winning Professor of Psychology at the University of Hawaii. He has been awarded five patents on managing complex data for information retrieval and binaural sonar.
Dr. Roitblat has more than 35 years of experience in statistical analysis of complex data, including sampling as a quality measure in information retrieval. His extensive research experience includes teaching graduate level research methods as well as advising on the use of innovative analysis techniques. He was one of the early pioneers in log-linear analysis of choice and decision data and has worked extensively in optimal decision making. He has consulted on complex research issues with the United States Navy, DARPA, and other government agencies.
Dr. Roitblat received his BA Degree from Reed College in Portland, OR and his Ph.D. in Psychology from The University of California-Berkeley.
