Dr. Maia is a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering. Dr. Maia is one of the leading experts in agriculture air quality measurement and control. He has a Ph.D. in Biosystems Engineering from the University of Kentucky and a M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. He uses data science to assess agricultural systems affected by climate change and food insecurity. His research also includes design and commissioning of systems to measure and control greenhouse gases and precursors from agricultural sources. His work is published in Water Research, Atmospheric Environment, Computers and Electronics in Agriculture, and Transactions of American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers.
