I hold a Ph.D. in Engineering and have more than 25 years of experience in the IT Industry. I have been working in North America as a Business\System\Data Analyst, Project Manager, Software Architect and Data Architect for a number of years.
I worked in Canada as a research engineer at the Memorial University of Newfoundland and later as a software Architect for EDS Canada. I am one of the software architects that designed and developed the Health and Benefits system for the Veteran Affairs of Canada.
In the United States of America, I worked for companies such as CITRIX, AUTONATION, and ANC among others. I have been working for big and small companies, as an employee or a contractor, in teams and alone.
I am a former IT University professor at the Technological University of America in Florida where I was teaching Databases, Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery (Data Science and Data Engineering) at the Master and Bachelor degrees' levels. I am a regular speaker at national and international IT conferences
Since 2004, I started my consulting practice in Florida working on a variety of tasks from database modeling and business intelligence to UML, business system analysis and QA.
I am an experienced data and application modeler. I use Sparx Enterprise Architect, Altova UML, Erwin, PowerDesigner, Rational Rose and other modeling tools. In addition to my formal training, I have working knowledge in Object Oriented Programming Analysis and Design (UML) and relational databases (Oracle, SYBASE, SQL Server) from design to implementation in an OLTP or OLAP architecture (multidimensional modeling, star schemas, cubes, etc.).
Since 2011 I have been worked with BIG Data, MongoDB, Pentaho, Talend, ML, HDFS, Spark, and other Apache Open Source tools such as Cassandra, Pig, Hive, etc.
