I for one am betting on Internet of things with stream computing? In fact, so hard that I co-founded a company in this area - Simply Connected.
We think that will 30 billion devices (Gartner Research) coming online by 2020 and the amount of data that we see from the web and smart phones (1.5 billion) that analytics will be extremely crucial to rise above the data noise and figure out what is going on with 30 billion devices.
I believe the semantic web will play a big role in the next five years for analytics. I'm referring specifically to Linked Data. The idea behind Linked Data is to incorporate external links to other data sets, hence enriching and increasing the granularity of data. This is a huge undertaking that requires the cooperation of many individuals and organisations but the benefits will be tremendous.
