Today for the first time in our history, we have more traffic coming from Twitter than from Google organic searches. Indeed, for the vast majority of websites, the top traffic sources are direct (no referral), and Google organic search. For our website, today, traffic breakdown is as follows

  • Direct: 38.7%
  • Twitter:  19.9%
  • Google organic: 19.1%
  • LinkedIn: 4.3%

This is a result of our growth hacking efforts that leverage Twitter but do not contain (yet) an SEO component. Both Google organic and Twitter are growing nicely, with Twitter (as well as Direct traffic) growing faster. I expect LinkedIn to experience accelerated growth (I'm working on this) because users coming from LinkedIn are more engaged. Though Twitter is more US-based traffic (by our own design), a big advantage over Google organic and LinkedIn.

This week is also the best week ever in terms of traffic. And this month should beat all our previous records.
