I recently heard about DASCA (Data Science Council of America) and it's certifications. Can anyone please comment on their value in the data science industry? Especially the Senior Data Scientist Certification. Considering they are from a platform independent body, which is unlike any particular organization like Hortonworks, Cloudera, etc. I think they should have a higher significance but I would like to know what fellow data scientists think.
What weight do this certification has on the chances of someone being hired for a senior data science role?
I don’t know nothing about this organisation, but I wonder how a certification can turn you into a Senior Data Scientist or even a junior one. It’s not about a tool .., it’s a discipline into science ...
why I cannot certificate as an surgeon or medical doctor or even as an architect online with a few courses and someone can be data scientist this way ?
I got to know about Data Science Council of America (DASCA) through a referral on kdnuggets website. I did a bit of research before applying and found that it was compared with some renowned data science certifications in the industry.
I don’t know about their data scientist certifications, but pursuing their SBDA (Senior Big Data Analyst) turned out to be a good decision for me. Their course is comprehensive, exam standards are good and the course materials which were dispatched to me had quality.
I was provided with credentials to access their virtual lab for practicing on live datasets & also had access to their e-learning platform.
Just one piece of advice, please check their candidacy track before registering so that you apply for the right certification program.
I have also shared my entire experience on LinkedIn- https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/heres-how-i-got-my-sbda-certificatio...
Hope it helps.
