Bhekisipho Twala is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Science, University of Johannesburg (UJ) in South Africa. Prior to joining UJ, he was a principal research scientist within the Modelling and Digital Science Unit at the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research in Pretoria. His reasearch involved robotics probabilistic learning and multi sensor data fusion. From 2004-2006 he was post doctoral researcher at Brunel University in the UK where he worked within the Software Engineering Research Centre. His research and teaching activities have focused on issues of artificial intelligence and statistical science (AISS)in various fields a(including software enginerring, electrical engineering, robotics, etc) and has published book chapters, conference proceedings and articles on these topics in the AISS and related journals.
He consults on knowledge discovery and reasoning with uncertainty and has served as a consultant and scientific adviser to a number of organizations and major corporations. He is in the Editorial boards of the Journal of Computing and the Journal of Image Processing.
