Data Science Projects are initiated by organizations with a specific goal and the sponsors of such projects would want a timeline in which the results need to be achieved. Data Science projects are unique when compared to regular software development projects in that

  • Working through large sets of data would require significant elapsed time.
  • The number of iterations of analysis-review-feedback-analysis loop is not fixed. It may extend until significant results are achieved.
  • Data Science projects might not provide significant results at all (if the data has no signals to predict the target)

I am interested in knowing how others

  • Estimate Data Science Projects
  • Plan and track to the plan
  • Communicate to and convince the sponsors.

thanks
